On this page I collect my observations of the planetary nebula NGC 6781, called Snowball Nebula or Ghost of the Moon, in the constellation Aquila.

Introduction

The planetary nebula NGC 6781 (Snowball Nebula) in the constellation Aquila is, according to Stoyan, the brightest of four fainter planetary nebulae in this constellation. It reminds me of the Ring and the Dumbell nebulae.

NGC 6781 (Snowball Nebula)
Size: 2' (Stoyan)
Distance: 5,000 light years (Stoyan)
Rating: ** (Stoyan)
