Leica X Vario: ISO Tests (Tungsten)

Introduction | Motive 1 | Motive 2 | Motive 3

Archive

On this page, I present photos taken at various ISO values in tungsten lighting with the Leica X Vario camera.

Introduction

In the following, I present ISO samples in tungsten lighting for three different motives. I show overview photos at ISO 100 and ISO 12.500 and then for each of the ISO values tested a section in 100%. Click the sections to download the full-size original photos. I set focus to manual so that all photos in a series have identical distance settings.

Note that motive 1 is similar to motive 1 for daylight.

I do not present photos for ISO 200 and ISO 400 because the difference between ISO 100 and ISO 800 is small (and to save space).

The photos demonstrate that for Web purposes (that is, if you use small versions of the photos), ISO 6400 or even 12500 is usable. They also demonstrate that it depends very much on the lighting and the motive how acceptable higher ISO photos will turn out.
